Textile Reinforcement in Fibrin-based Tissue Engineerd Heart Valves.

چکیده
Tissue-engineered heart valves (TEHV) are a promising approach to solve problems in currently used prostheses. Studies of fibrin based heart valves show promissing results. To overcome last shortcommings concerning the mechanical strength we develope a textile reinforcement. Two approches are tested in this study. One is a composite of manual placed fibres and an electrospun nonwoven layer. The other is a composite of a knitted structure and electrospun fibres. Both approches are tested in test benches concerning the orifice of the valve and the burst stength of the single leaflets. Both approaches improve the mechanical stability of the leflets, but also lead to a decrease of their flexibility.

Multiple-Step Injection Molding for Fibrin-Based Tissue-Engineered Heart Valves
Heart valves are elaborate and highly heterogeneous structures of the circulatory system. Despite the well accepted relationship between the structural and mechanical anisotropy and the optimal function of the valves, most approaches to create tissue-engineered heart valves (TEHVs) do not try to mimic this complexity and rely on one homogenous combination of cells and materials for the whole co...
متن کاملTexMi: development of tissue-engineered textile-reinforced mitral valve prosthesis.
Mitral valve regurgitation together with aortic stenosis is the most common valvular heart disease in Europe and North America. Mechanical and biological prostheses available for mitral valve replacement have significant limitations such as the need of a long-term anticoagulation therapy and failure by calcifications. Both types are unable to remodel, self-repair, and adapt to the changing hemo...

Objective- This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of using platelet rich fibrin membrane as a novel on-lay patching biomaterial in canine esophagotomy and its effects on esophageal wound healing. Design- Experimental study. Animals- Eight adult mixed breed dogs of both sexes equally allocated to control and treatment groups.<b...

BACKGROUND AND AIM OF THE STUDY Glutaraldehyde-preserved bioprosthetic heart valves are non-viable and have a limited durability because of calcification, tissue wear, and inflammation, especially in children. Decellularized porcine heart valves, when treated with deoxycholic acid (DOA), have exhibited complete recellularization and an absence of calcification when implanted into the pulmonary ...
متن کاملStroke as a First Sign of a Malignant Cancer (A Case of Thrombotic Non Infectious Endocarditis)
Nonbacterial thrombotic endocarditis is a disease which is characterized by abnormal deposit of fibrin and platelets over heart valves. It can appear in relation with disseminated cancer, connective tissue diseases or severe infections. Is not common as a first sign of an occult cancer and that is why we present our clinical case based on a patient who suffered from stroke as the first symptom ...
